I change my oil every 2,000 mi. or 3 months, whatever comes first. I'm using the Mobil-1 10w40 for motorcycles. I also heard that oil changes are the best thing you can do for your engine.
My Savage takes exactly 2.5 quarts with an oil change *and filter*. Just and oil change takes exactly 2 quarts on my bike. I find that convenient! Note: your bike may be different, so don't just go on my message here!
